Syracuse Upset- It’s November Nonsense!

This really is almost too hard to believe, seems made up really.

Syracuse, who many had (and still have) high expectaitons for this season, played their first exhibition game last night against Le Moyne.

This game should have been an easy stroll through the park, a nice warm up to get ready for the season.  This one didn’t go exactly as scripted.

Wesley Johnson put the ‘Cuse up by 1 with 22 seconds left in the game.  Le Moyne’s leading scorer, Christopher Johnson, answered with a thee of his own to seal the victory for upstart Le Moyne.  Le Moyne wins 82-79.

This is a HUGE win for Le Moyne for several reasons, the biggest of which is they are literally cross town rivals.  Le Moyne is right in Syracuse (don’t act like you knew where they were, I had to go to their nicely designed website).

This is a big loss for Syracuse as well, only because it shows weaknesses in their game.  More than likely they just let this one slip away and didn’t take it serious enough.

This isn’t time to panic for Syracuse fans.  It is a stunning disappointment to lose a preseason opener to your cross town step brother, but there were some bright spots, the biggest of which was transfer Wesley Johnson.  that’s a big immediate impact.  If he can carry a big portion of the scoring load, Syracuse is headed for a good seasons in the Big East.

Until next game though, the ‘Cuse will have to live with that sour taste in their mouths.
