Mid-American Conference Tournament: Flashy and Zippy.

Bracket: Mac-sports.com

This has been such an even (crazy) year in the Mid-American Conference, it’s hard to even speculate on a winner. Kent State and Akron appear to be the favorites as the only teams with double digit win totals in conference.

Kent State and Akron will be a good battle in the championship, if they can keep from getting upset.

If there is an upset special in the making, watch out for Buffalo. If the Bisons get Rodney Pierce and Calvin Betts to show up on the same night, they can be dangerous.

The real story is that the MAC is wide-open and any team could win this thing because of the crazy way things have been this season.

Players to Watch: David Kool, Western Michigan (21 ppg), Xavier Silas, Northern Illinois (19.7 ppg), Rodney Pierce, Buffalo (19.1 ppg), Carlos Medlock, Eastern Michigan (16.3 ppg), Brandon Bowdry, Eastern Michigan (16 ppg, 9.8 rpg).

The Teams: Kent State (13-3, 23-8), Akron (12-4, 22-9), Buffalo (9-7, 17-11), Central Michigan (9-7, 15-14), Miami (OH) (9-7, 13-17), Eastern Michigan (8-8, 16-14), Western Michigan (8-8, 16-14), Ball State (8-8, 15-14), Ohio (7-9, 17-14), Bowling Green (6-10, 14-15). Northern Illinois (6-10,10-19), Toledo (1-15, 4-27)

Winner: Kent State. They are the incumbent and the under development of a five-star recruit at Akron really gives them the advantage. That’s right, we’re blaming Kent State winning the MAC on Zeke Marshall.  Sorry Zeke, we may have had too high of hopes for you. I guess you did only average 9 rebounds as a monster in high school.

NCAA Tournament Outlook: One and done.
