Predicted Champ:  High Point (12-4, 16-13 Big South)

The Panthers won three of their first five games in November, after which senior power forward Allan Chaney had to retire due to heart complications. The team entered a freefall as they proceeded to lose 10 of their next 13 through early-January, then righted the ship and finished the year by winning 12 of their final 14 with two losses coming on the road by a total of six points. Sophomore forward John Brown was the conference freshman of the year last year before injuring his foot in late-February and missing the rest of the season, but he will try to stay healthy this month while carrying the entire team on his back.

Upset Potential:

VMI (11-5, 18-11), Costal Carolina (11-5, 18-12), Winthrop (10-6, 18-12) While High Point might be our favorite to win, there is a lot of parity in the Big South this year.  This tournament could go several ways, which always makes for exciting basketball.  If High Point isn’t your winner, VMI is the next best bet.
