Canada’s Number One: UNLV’s Anthony Bennett becomes the first Canadian to go #1 overall (Twitter Reacts)

Andrew Wiggins is ticked off now.  The “next Lebron James” won’t be Canada’s first-ever overall pick in the NBA Draft.  His fellow countryman, neighbor*, Brampton-native and UNLV Runnin’ Rebel Anthony Bennett beat him to it.

The pundits and fans are all over this pick in shock and surprise but really sure why.

No one suggested that Bennett wasn’t an impact guy.  He’s young, has an NBA body (hopefully not a Stanley Robert’s sized one) and he has one of the more polished offensive games available in the draft.  He is a ‘tweener but he has the length to make up for it, the only question is whether he can guard a small forward.

Either way this is a good pick for the Cavs and couple made a tough (Canadian) front court for years to come with Bennett paired with Tristan Thompson.
