Florida Gulf Coast and La Salle are the darlings of the dance

Florida Gulf Coast and La Salle continued their improbable runs on Sunday, solidifying cinderella-type drama for the sweet sixteen.

La Salle upended Ole Miss on the “Southwest Philly Floater” as Tyrone Garland hit a layup with time running out to seal the win for the Explorers.

The Explorer run to the sweet sixteen is especially unique because they played three games this week, having to battle their way out of the first four in Dayton earlier in the week.

La Salle is making their first tournament appearance in almost 20 years, and they are making the most of it.

Florida Gulf Coast became the first 15 seed to ever advance to the sweet 16.  The Eagles took their high-soaring offense up against San Diego State Sunday night and proved they were for real.

Bernard Thompson had 23 points and five steals, while Brett Comer had 10 points and a whopping 14 assists to lead the Eagles to the win.
