FUN FACTS OF THE MID-SEASON

Jon Teitel has been digging deep into the current stats to discover which players have the best chances of making some history this year, including a pair of Rams.  Here is what he found:

Doug McDermott (Creighton)

Last year he became the only player in the past 15 years to score 650-plus points and have less than 10 steals in the same season. Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 362 points, four steals.

Michael Carter-Williams (Syracuse)

Nobody in the past 15 years has played a full season with nine-plus assists and three-plus steals-per-game.  Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 9.6 assists, 3.2 steals.

Nate Wolters (South Dakota State)

Nobody in the past 15 years has played a full season with 20-plus points per game, six plus rebounds and six plus assists per game. Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 21 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists per game.

Briante Weber (VCU)

Everyone in the past 15 years who has played a full season with 3.5+ steals-per-game has scored in double-digits. Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 3.7 steals, 5.9 points-per-game.

Jeff Withey (Kansas)

Everyone in the past 15 years who has five+ blocks-per-game has scored under 14 points per contest. Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 5.1 blocks, 13.5 points-per-game.

Troy Daniels (VCU)

Nobody in the past 15 years has made 140 three-point shots while shooting at least 44% from behind the arc. Halfway through the 2012-13 season: 69 threes made, 44 three point percentage.
