Earlier in the week I got the pleasure of seeing Stony Brook’s Jameel Warney for the third time in the last three years. Most of you may not know who he is, but you should. All though Stony Brook is just 2-2 so far this season, they almost beat Vandy on the road, Jameel Warney is 4 for 4.

Warney has four double-doubles in four games. On Tuesday at Loyola he was just as good, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Everything seems to be so easy for Warney, who is listed at just 6’8″. He is scoring at 56 percent and has also swatted away 3 blocks per game. He can score with his back to the bucket, off the offensive glass, and can knock down a soft jumper.

Last season Warney averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds and had double-doubles in 26 of his 35 games. A member of the Stony Brook athletic department told, “We are lucky to still have him on our team, he could play anywhere.” He wasn’t lying.

If you want to see Jameel play, you will most likely have to go to an America East Conference game near you, because they only have a few games on tv. But on December 8, you can catch the Seawolves taking on Notre Dame on ESPNU. Their January 22 game vs Albany is also on ESPNU, but that’s it.

Do yourselves a favor and find a way to watch Jameel Warney play basketball, he will not dissapoint.
