Over the past few days I’ve gone 7-1 in my picks for this tournament, with my only incorrect game being Iowa winning (heavy sigh from this Hawkeye). The championship in the Big Ten comes down to one state. Pre-season favorite Michigan State will battle against regular season champion, Michigan. This is a game more than in state rivalry, as this could be a game for the last number one seed in The Big Dance.
Most bracketologist experts have Florida, Wichita State and Arizona as locks for number one seeds. Some are predicting Michigan as a number one too, but they are going to have to get through the Spartans for the third time this year to lock down that spot.
The Spartans are back to full strength with a lineup that Michigan has yet to see with Brendan Dawson. These teams have never met in the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan State is 3-0 in the title games, where Michigan’s only win was in the inaugural year of 1998. This game is for more than bragging rights and I believe that Gary Harris will be the key to this game for State.
