The Line with Caroline: B1G Tournament Day One Predictions

Thursday kicks off day one of the B1G tournament in Indianapolis.  The first round is going to have some entertaining games as teams are fighting for their chance to dance.  Here are my predictions for Day One.

Indiana vs Illinois 12:00 PM ET BTN

The Hoosiers beat three Top 25 teams in their last five.  Illinois has been hot winning for of the last five.  Indiana’s leading scorer, Yogi Ferrell will not be enough to lead this team past the Illini.

Illini by four.

Ohio State vs Purdue 2:30 PM ET BTN

The Buckeyes play well in this tournament making the title game five years in a row.  Thad Matta’s team could gain a seed in the Big Dance with a good showing.

Buckeyes by 11.

Minnesota vs Penn St 6:30 PM ET ESPN2

Minnesota is on the bubble and winning at least a game in the tourney will help.  The Gophers have give top 50 wins and a win against Penn St should give Minnesota momentum with Wisconsin in game two.

Gophers by 6.

Iowa vs Northwestern 8:30 PM ET ESPN2

This is a must win game for Iowa.   After losing five out of the last six, Iowa is really struggling to make their case to dance. Coach McCaffery’s team is heavily favored, but this will be a close one and Iowa will have to play Michigan State tomorrow.

Hawkeyes by  7.
