MAAC Conference Tournament Preview

  March 6-10
Location:  Springfield, Mass

Most conferences have just one or two good teams in them followed by a pack of average teams with a few teams that are just happy to be there bringing up the rear.  Few conferences can truly say they have four or five teams that could potentially win their conference tournament, but the MAAC can make this claim, making it one of the conference tournaments to watch.

Predicted Champ:  Iona (20-9, 17-3 MAAC)

The Gaels went 17-3 in conference this year, led the nation by making more than 300 three point shots, and is the defending tourney champ after a three point win over Manhattan last March. Iona has made the NCAA tourney in each of the past two years, since January tenth they are 14-2 with only a two-point home loss to Canisius and a three point overtime loss at Manhattan.

Upset Potential:

Toss Up.  Manhattan (22-7, 15-5), Quinnipac (19-10, 14-6), Canisius (20-11, 14-6) This is the only conference featuring 4 teams with 14+ conference wins, there is always a chance that we will see the fifth different tourney champ in the past five years.
