In an exciting, back and forth game, 12th seeded NC State survived a close call with 13th seeded Wake Forest 75-72. Freshman guard Maverick Rowan hit three consecutive three balls in a 75 second span late in the game to help the Wolfpack pull ahead of the Demon Deacons.

Rowan finished with a game-high 24 points on 6-13 from deep. His threes came with less than 5 minutes to play and with Wake holding a small lead. Coach Mark Gottfried said after the game, “Maverick’s got a pair of steel ones down there.” Rowan himself added that that was the best two minute span of his basketball career.

Anthony “Cat” Barber was equally as good, finishing with 22 points and 6 assists. The Wolfpack as a team shot 44 percent from behind the arc and their defense forced 16 Wake turnovers.

Bryant Crawford led the scoring effort for Wake with 19 points on 7-17 shooting. Senior Devin Thomas recorded yet another double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds in his final ACC game.

NC State gets Duke tomorrow at 2:30pm.
