Southern Conference Tournament

soconDates: March 7-10
Location: Asheville, NC

Like many of the small conference tournaments, there is a clear and familiar favorite in the southern conference but there are a couple of teams waiting in the wings that could hit the upset button as the conference tournament unfolds.  In a small conference, that is concerning because there is really only one bid to be had.

Predicted Champ: Davidson (19-11, 15-1)

Davidson  The Wildcats went 4-10 in non-conference play, but their only hiccup the rest of the year was a two points overtime loss to Elon in January. Davidson is the two-time defending tourney champ and has won five of the past eight tourney titles.   Senior forward De’Mon Brooks is the 2-time-defending conference tourney MVP, and if he can make it threee in a row then he will go out with a bang as a Wildcat legend.

Upset Potential:  Delaware (22-9, 14-2),  William & Mary (18-11, 10-6)

There are four  other teams bunched behind them with double-digit conference wins and hope to challenge the Wildcats in Asheville.  Elon is the only one of them to beat Davidson  during conference play.  Chattanooga and Wofford also hope to put together a run to the finals and, in turn, the big dance.

Projected Tournament MOP: De’Mon Brooks, Davidson
