The Line with Caroline: Battle 4 Atlantis, Day 2

Day one is done in the Bahamas and it was a thrilling one.  Villanova gave USC their second loss of the season in the lopsided 94-79 victory.   KU gave Wake Forest their first loss of the season 87-78.  Iowa took Xavier into OT winning 77-74.  UTEP  beat Tennessee 78-70.

Here are today’s match ups and  my predictions in italics at the end.  (All times Eastern Standard Time).

Xavier vs Tennessee, 1PM

These teams will meet for the second time this season.  The Musketeers will come out strong like they did against Iowa, but will need to be more consistent in the second half. Tennessee’s Jordan McRae will not be enough for this rematch.

Xavier by nine.

USC vs Wake Forest, 3:30PM

Codi Miller-McIntyre, 19.8 ppg and the Deacons gave KU a good run yesterday, but came up short.  This won’t happen today.  USC is struggling and Coach Enfield needs to worry more about what happens on the court.  This is going to be a close game, but Wake Forest will come out on top.

Deacons by two.

Iowa vs UTEP, 7PM

They key to this game will be whether or not Roy Devyn Marble will be able to play for the Hawkeyes.  After suffering from leg cramps for most of the second half, his status for the game is unclear. Both teams have deep benches, but this game will be determined by the battle of the boards.

Hawkeyes by seven.

Villanova vs Kansas, 9:30PM

This matchup is intriguing.   Both teams are 5-0 and the matchup between Andrew Wiggins and Dylan Ennis is going to be a highlight.  Wiggins is from Ontario, the same province where Ennis grew up.   Although KU is young, their bench is deep and will easily beat the Wildcats.

Jayhawks by ten.
